On September 16, the “Industry Experts on Campus” lecture series, organized by the Liaoning Provincial Department of Education, the Liaoning Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and the Liaoning Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, and hosted by Shenyang Institute of Technology, was held in the lecture hall of the School of Information and Control at the university. Feng Li, co-founder and vice president of Shanghai Huicheng Engineering Technology Services Co., Ltd., and a senior engineer specializing in intelligent control system integration, was invited to deliver a special lecture entitled “Intelligence Empowering Industry, Dreams Shaping the Future: Technological and Industrial Developments in Intelligent Manufacturing in the New Era.”Faculty members in relevant disciplines and programs, as well as graduate and undergraduate students from universities across Liaoning Province, attended the lecture simultaneously through an integrated format combining an in-person main venue with a live online broadcast.
Feng Li’s presentation, themed “Intelligence Empowering Industry, Craftsmanship Building the Future,” focused on China’s strategy to build a strong manufacturing nation and Liaoning Province’s “2211” industrial development framework. He reviewed the achievements of China’s manufacturing sector and traced the evolution of intelligent manufacturing from digitalization and “Internet Plus” to next-generation intelligent manufacturing. He also explained the Intelligent Manufacturing Capability Maturity Model and its four key elements: personnel, technology, resources, and manufacturing. Drawing on practical examples, including smart water meters, pre-inspection systems for complete vehicles, automotive workshop control systems, predictive maintenance, digital twins, and 5G- and AI-enabled coordination between production and sales, Feng examined the practical applications of data-driven operations, intelligent maintenance, and industry–education integration. He also introduced Shanghai Huicheng’s collaboration with Shenyang Institute of Technology to establish a modern industrial college, highlighting efforts to bring real-world industrial scenarios and core control systems into the classroom. The lecture encouraged students to engage with Liaoning’s industrial clusters and key industrial chains, strengthen their professional foundations, and enhance their engineering and practical skills. It also inspired them to align their personal development with Liaoning’s comprehensive revitalization and the country’s broader strategic goals.
This event serves as a concrete measure to implement the Work Plan for the “Industry Experts on Campus” Cutting-Edge Lecture Series and the Guidelines on Industry Expert Lectures. It addresses the development needs of Liaoning’s “2211” industrial framework, deepens
industry–education integration, promotes the integration of science and education, and aligns talent development with the cultivation of new quality productive forces and the talent needs of key industrial chains.
Shenyang Institute of Technology continues to advance the “Industry Experts on Campus” Cutting-Edge Lecture Series, bringing more leading industry professionals to the university. It establishes a regular, in-depth engagement mechanism between the university and enterprises and explores the appointment of industry experts as adjunct or industry professors. These experts participate in the development of talent training programs, textbook development, teaching reform, and employment and entrepreneurship guidance, extending their role from delivering one-off lectures to making a sustained impact on talent development.The initiative promotes deeper integration of the education and talent chains with the industrial and innovation chains, providing strong talent support for the development of Liaoning’s “2211” industrial framework and new breakthroughs in the province’s comprehensive revitalization.
