On August 18th, Wang Haiying, Vice Chairman of the Finance and Economic Committee of the Liaoning Provincial People's Congress, led a delegation to our university to conduct a special investigation on universities' efforts to serve Liaoning's new breakthrough in comprehensive revitalization, industry-education integration and collaborative education, application-oriented talent cultivation, and assisting enterprises in intelligent transformation and digital transformation. Wang Zhaobao, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Li Kangju, President of our university, accompanied the investigation.
At the symposium, Wang Haiying highly praised the school's phased achievements in applied talent cultivation, industry-education integration, and school-enterprise cooperation. He stated that this survey closely follows Liaoning's three-year action plan for comprehensive revitalization and new breakthroughs, and is based on the actual industrial development of the province. The focus is on collecting front-line practical experience and opinions and suggestions from universities in industry-education integration, talent supply, and serving enterprises' digital transformation and smart transformation, in order to promote the high-quality development of the province's productive service industry. He emphasized that running a school must deeply answer the important question of "for whom to run education and what kind of education to run," adhering to the original intention of education to serve the practical needs of society. At the same time, he put forward three work suggestions: first, to consolidate basic principle education, do a good job in publicity and guidance, coordinate basic theoretical teaching and practical skills training, and focus on cultivating skilled craftsmen for a great nation; second, relying on a comprehensive enterprise-level training platform, based on the accumulation of schooling, move towards high-precision and advanced fields, promote the deep integration of teaching, scientific research, and industrial practice, and concentrate resources on tackling key areas; third, build a strong high-level teaching team, gather high-end talents through flexible talent introduction, delve deeply into precision design and precision manufacturing, and create a distinctive schooling brand.
On behalf of the school, Wang Zhaobao extended a warm welcome to the research team. He stated that as a private undergraduate institution, Shenyang Institute of Technology has always adhered to its original mission of fostering students through moral education and has made serving Liaoning's comprehensive revitalization and new breakthroughs an important educational mission. The school has actively deployed in the AI+ education innovation track, promoting the research and development of large models and intelligent agents, and has conducted in-depth cooperation with multiple enterprises such as Meiyun Zhishu, Aiante, Huawei, and Siemens. In the next step, the school will seize the opportunity of Liaoning's digital transformation development, continue to increase investment in practical teaching and the construction of industry-education integration platforms, actively connect with leading industries in the province, and proactively empower local enterprises in Liaoning to undergo intelligent transformation and digital transformation, using the strength of private universities to promote high-quality development of the local economy.
Li Kangju introduced to the research team the general situation, development history, educational characteristics, and construction achievements of the school. He stated that the school adheres to the orientation of applied undergraduate education, closely aligns with regional industrial needs to optimize the layout of majors, and continuously deepens the reform of industry-education integration and school-enterprise collaborative education. Currently, the school has a student enrollment of 20,000, with a stable scale of operation and continuously improving student quality. The enrollment plan in Liaoning Province has achieved full enrollment in one attempt. The school adheres to an employment-oriented approach, relying on modern industrial colleges, enterprise project practices, and other platforms to continuously improve talent cultivation and student employment quality, delivering a large number of high-quality applied talents to local industries. At the same time, based on the actual situation of private colleges and universities, and focusing on implementing the "Private Education Promotion Law of the People's Republic of China", relevant opinions and demands are put forward to ensure the sustainable development of private colleges and universities.
The participants engaged in thorough discussions and exchanges centered around universities serving Liaoning's new breakthroughs in comprehensive revitalization, industry-education integration and collaborative talent cultivation, application-oriented talent development, school-enterprise joint development, and advancing the province's pace of intelligent transformation and digital transformation.
Before the symposium, Wang Haiying and his delegation visited our Intelligent Manufacturing Industry College, Huawei-Shenyang Institute of Technology Modern Industry College, Shenyang Institute of Technology-Midea Digital Lighthouse College, and KUKA Licensed Industrial Robot College.
