Spring tide surges to start a new journey, and the power of examples lights up the original aspiration. On March 9, a report meeting on the advanced deeds of Comrade Jin Chenglong was held in the library auditorium of our university. Representatives from various industries and fields, including organs of the Demonstration Zone Administrative Committee, sub-districts (townships, economic zones), grassroots communities (villages), resident units and enterprises, as well as teachers and students of Fushun Vocational and Technical College and our university gathered together to recall the short but glorious life of Comrade Jin Chenglong, feel the power of examples and accept spiritual baptism.
This report meeting is an important stop of the provincial tour lecture by the report group on Comrade Jin Chenglong’s advanced deeds organized by the Publicity Department of the Provincial Party Committee. It aims to inherit and carry forward the spirit of Lei Feng in the new era, guide the majority of Party members, cadres, the masses and young students to take Comrade Jin Chenglong as an example, firm up their ideals and beliefs, strengthen their sense of responsibility, draw strength for progress from the heroic deeds, and gather strong spiritual momentum for promoting the high-quality development of the Shenfu Demonstration Zone and supporting the all-round revitalization of Liaoning.
At the report meeting, five members of the lecture group, namely Zhang Dan, Secretary of the General Party Branch of the School of Basic Medical Sciences, Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Zhang Qi, Chief of the Political Work Section of the People’s Armed Forces Department of Huanggu District, Shenyang City, Wu Shuang, Staff member of the Development Center of Liaoning Red Cross Society and Deputy Secretary-General of Liaoning Red Cross Volunteer Federation, Cui Zhenbo, Reporter from Fushun Station of Liaoning Daily, and Yin Jiao, Director of the Teaching Affairs Department of Liaoning Lei Feng Cadre College, told the daily stories and heroic feats of Comrade Jin Chenglong from different perspectives with simple words and sincere emotions. With great reverence, everyone listened carefully to the heroic stories, deeply comprehended the spirit of the example, and received a soul-touching ideological tempering and spiritual baptism.
It is worth mentioning that our university has deeply cultivated the education of Lei Feng's spirit, thoroughly promoted the entry of Lei Feng culture into campus, Lei Feng spirit into classrooms, Lei Feng role models into schools and Lei Feng activities into society, and built an all-round education system of casting souls with Lei Feng’s spirit.
Late on February 1, nine days after Jin Chenglong’s sacrifice, Guo Hao, a student from Class 3, Electrical Automation, School of Information and Control, Grade 2024, who lives in Qichetun Village, Hualong District, Puyang City, Henan Province, heard a cry for help from a drowning man when he rode an electric bike past Majia River after finishing his part-time job during the winter vacation. He jumped into the icy river without hesitation and successfully rescued a drowning man. When Hu Xiaomei, Secretary of the Party Committee of our university, told this scene, warm and prolonged applause broke out at the scene. This is another typical courageous student emerging in Liaoning and Shenyang after advanced figures such as Jin Chenglong, Huang Chuanding and Cheng Jun. With practical actions, they have shown the responsibility and commitment of young people in the new era to inherit the heroic spirit and practice great love for humanity.
This report meeting is not only a profound spiritual baptism, but also an ideological mobilization, inspiring every participant to practice diligently and strive for the first place in their respective positions, and write a new chapter of struggle in the new era with practical actions.
