Since the beginning of this semester, our university has welcomed 27 international exchange students from six overseas partner institutions: Irkutsk State University, Irkutsk State Agricultural University, Amur Khabarovsk State University in Russia, South Ural State University, Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation, and Ogarev Mordova State University.
To meet the diverse learning needs of the international exchange students, the International Education College has offered a series of practical Chinese courses, including Basic Chinese, Scientific Chinese, Business Chinese, and HSK intensive courses, to enhance their language skills and cross-cultural communication abilities. During the Scientific Chinese class, the exchange students visited key laboratories of our university. These courses not only cultivate students’ basic language abilities but also help them broaden their international horizons and develop professional skills.
The International Education College has also provided rich cultural experience activities for the international exchange students. They personally made mooncakes and peach shortbread, traditional Chinese delicacies, and visited our university’s intangible cultural heritage Da Guan Kiln and tie-dye craftsmanship. These activities not only enriched students’ after-school life but also allowed them to personally experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture. Strong friendships have been established between Chinese and Russian students, promoting international cultural exchanges.
Furthermore, the International Education College has organized Russian Corner activities for students in the International “2+2” Program and the “Belt and Road” customized class, opening a new window for our university students to engage with and learn Russian and providing a platform for international exchange students to learn and exchange Chinese, further promoting the exchange and integration of Sino-Russian cultures.
The international exchange students are very satisfied with our university’s educational environment, curriculum, and cultural experience activities. They have expressed their willingness to take back the knowledge and culture they have learned at Shenyang Institute of Engineering to their home countries and contribute to the promotion of international cultural exchanges.
Over the years, our university has consistently adhered to the direction of internationalization and vigorously developed education for international students. The International Education College has hosted multiple sessions of the international exchange student program, cultivating hundreds of international exchange students in total. The college will further enrich and improve its curriculum system and cultural experience activities, dedicated to creating a better learning and living environment for international students, deepening exchanges and integration among different cultures, and continuously contributing to the cultivation of more talents with international vision and competitiveness.
