The Strat of Joint Undergraduate and Graduate Program Between Shenyang Institute of Technology and Kyoto Institute of Informatics

On October 10th, the launch ceremony of the Joint Undergraduate and Graduate Program between SIT and Kyoto Institute of Informatics (KII) was held in the auditorium of the School of Information and Control. Vice President Yoichi Terashita of Kyoto Institute of Informatics, former President Sun Yuhua of Dalian Foreign Language University, Associate Professor Wang Peng of Heilongjiang Foreign Language College, Chairman Wang Zhaobao and Vice President Yang Xiuying of our university attended the event.

Wang Zhaobao, Chairman of the SIT board, stated that international cooperation is an important aspect of the development of Shenyang Institute of Technology. With the development of the times, the demand for versatile talents who are proficient in professional skills and foreign languages has become prominent, who will meet better salary, enjoy development prospects as well as great career development space. SIT  keeps up with the development needs of the times, actively promotes the reform of "major+ language" education and teaching, creates an international education cooperation brand of "major+ language", continuously expands the channels for cultivating "major+ language" talents, and offers free Japanese language training to all students in the school. It cultivates composite high-quality applied talents in the industry, improves students' core competitiveness, and promotes high-quality employment for students. He is confident in the cooperation between the two schools and looks forward to both sidesleveraging their respective strengths to cultivate more outstanding talents. He also hopes undergraduates will actively participate in this project, bravely go out, seize the opportunities provided by the school, find their own position, and achieve a better self.

Yoichi Terashita, on behalf of all the faculty and staff of KII, welcomes and congratulates the students participating in the project and gives a brief introduction to the school's operation. He stated that SIT has achieved fruitful results in talent cultivation, with students possessing solid theoretical knowledge and excellent practical abilities, as well as strong comprehensive qualities. The launch of the "3+2" program for combined undergraduate and postgraduate studies has further expanded the school's international cooperation channels, jointly exploring new models of educational cooperation and providing students with a broader platform for growth. KII attaches great importance to its cooperation with SIT and will spare no effort to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two schools to a deeper level and broader areas.

Sun Yuhua said that with the deepening of internationalization, international exchanges and cooperation have become a very important force in promoting social progress and economic development, especially the "professional+language" education and teaching reform. SIT has responded to the trend of the times with practical actions. The internationalization process of Shenyang Institute of Technology sets an example for other colleges and universities and is at the forefront. This collaboration between SIT and KII provides students with more opportunities, enabling them to achieve high-quality employment.

Representative students from the first batch of 2021 who went to study in Japan, Zhao Zhenlong and Sun Lu, who participated in the project, shared their experiences.

KII is the first graduate university in Japan specializing in IT technology, with strong capabilities and rich teaching experience in the field of information technology. The two schools signed an agreement for a collaborative education project in April 2023. The "3+2" joint undergraduate and graduate training program launched this time will provide students with a bachelor's degree certificate and a student degree certificate from Shenyang Institute of Technology, as well as a master's degree certificate from Kyoto University of Advanced Science in Japan. So far, 158 people have signed up for the program at our school.

After the opening ceremony, a cross-cultural communication seminar was held. Associate Professor Wang Peng from Heilongjiang International College of Foreign Languages shared his experience in cross-cultural communication.
