On June 4th, the opening ceremony of the workshop on the integration and application of artificial intelligence in the field of education at Shenyang Institute of Technology was held in the reading room of the International Education College. Dr. Li Jiaxing, an expert from Michigan State University in the United States, and our Vice President Shao Yu attended the opening ceremony of the class.
Shao Yu warmly welcomes the arrival of Dr. Li Jiaxing. She pointed out that in order to fully implement the transformation of education empowered by artificial intelligence, promote the integration and application of artificial intelligence in our school’s education and teaching, and improve teaching quality, the school specially invited two experts from Michigan State University in the United States to train our faculty through on-site workshops and online connections. She hopes that the participating faculty and staff will cherish this learning opportunity, actively practice, achieve the integration of theory and practice, and enable AI technology to play a positive role in our school’s education and teaching.
Dr. Li Jiaxing explained the learning content of this workshop. He pointed out that the workshop will focus on the integrated application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of education, explore its potential to enhance the teaching and learning experience, and highlight the advantages of AI in promoting personalized learning and improving teacher efficiency, as well as the challenges it brings in ethical issues, data privacy, and other aspects.
Professor Fu Junfan, Director of the Center for Teaching Promotion and Teacher Development, Zhang Lili, Dean of the School of International Education, and 50 faculty members from relevant units attended the opening ceremony.
After the opening ceremony, Richard E. Ferdig, a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Michigan State University, gave his first lecture on the definition and classification of artificial intelligence tools.
This training lasts for three days, and participating teachers will explore ways and methods of AI assisted teaching from both teaching and learning perspectives by experiencing different AI tools and combining them with their own disciplinary and teaching needs.
