Recently, the MIIT Talent Exchange Center issued the Notice on Announcing the First Batch of Members of the HarmonyOS Talent Development Promotion Working Group (MIIT Talent [2026] No. 3), in which our university was successfully selected. This achievement represents high recognition of our university’s work in industry-education integration, and marks important progress in serving the national strategy for innovative information technology application and cultivating professional talents for the HarmonyOS ecosystem.
The HarmonyOS Talent Development Promotion Working Group was jointly established by the MIIT Talent Exchange Center with leading industrial enterprises, universities and research institutions. Its core mission is to build a bridge between talent cultivation and industrial demand, and provide solid talent support for the high-quality development of the HarmonyOS ecosystem. As an important base for ICT talent training in Northeast China, our university has continuously deepened strategic cooperation with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. in recent years. In September 2024, the two parties jointly built the first international ICT innovative talent training base in Northeast Asia, with the construction of the HarmonyOS ecosystem as a key focus, and established a collaborative education system featuring the trinity of “education, technology and talent”.
In curriculum development, our university has offered distinctive courses such as HarmonyOS Mobile Application Development and HarmonyOS Embedded System Design for computer science, artificial intelligence and other related majors. Adopting an innovative step-by-step training model of “cognition, practice and innovation”, the university promotes the teaching process from real-scenario perception to practical training, aiming to improve students’ technical application ability and innovative thinking. In terms of teaching facilities, relying on the Huawei-Shenyang Institute of Technology Modern Industry College, 28 modern laboratories covering six directions including HarmonyOS and Ascend AI have been built. Among them, the HarmonyOS Embedded Laboratory has become an important platform for students to access cutting-edge industrial technologies. Based on the Ascend AI computing infrastructure, the university has built an intelligent education model system covering all majors across the campus, providing solid support for AI teaching and research under the HarmonyOS ecosystem.
Faculty development is key to the quality of talent cultivation. Through a “faculty integration” mechanism, our university has carried out in-depth cooperation with Huawei to jointly build a team of “dual-qualification” teachers. In early 2025, 15 Huawei technical experts began teaching on campus, integrating the latest industrial technologies and practical experience into classroom instruction, which greatly improved the alignment between teaching content and industrial needs. In April of the same year, the two parties jointly launched the “Global Model Base for ICT Talent Cultivation”. Relevant achievements were displayed at the Mobile World Congress 2025 and promoted globally. The “Shenyang Institute of Technology Model” for HarmonyOS talent cultivation explored by our university has attracted extensive attention from educational circles at home and abroad.
The selection into the first batch of members has injected new momentum into the university’s HarmonyOS talent cultivation. In the future, the university will take this opportunity to further integrate high-quality educational resources, deeply participate in the discussion of HarmonyOS ecosystem standards, curriculum co-construction and talent evaluation system development, continuously deepen strategic cooperation with Huawei and its ecosystem enterprises, expand the functions of practical platforms, and promote in-depth integration of industry, education, research and application. Focusing on actual industrial demands, the university will strive to cultivate more high-end technical talents with innovative capabilities who can adapt to the development of the HarmonyOS ecosystem, and contribute the “Shenyang Institute of Technology Strength” to the implementation of China’s information technology independent innovation strategy and the high-quality development of the regional digital economy.
