Feng Xi Sheng was born on December 17, 1941 in Haicheng, Liaoning province. He graduated from the Electrical Engineering Department of Harbin Institute of Technology in 1965. He is currently the researcher and doctoral supervisor of Shenyang Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Science. He has been appointed as the deputy director of the Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Research Laboratory and is the associate editor of  He has been elected as a member of The Ninth National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and a member of the Shenyang Municipal Government Committee. He is a pioneer of Chinese autonomous underwater vehicle studying. He was elected as a member of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1999.
