Recently, our university has directly brought a "Low-Altitude Economy Training Field" onto campus – a new aircraft runway has been built, and formal aircraft will be officially stationed here in October, specifically for cultivating professional pilots, aircraft maintenance technicians, and other related professionals. Additionally, the university will introduce several DJI aerial photography drones, agricultural drones, and multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for teaching and talent development.

This initiative not only fills the gap in practical teaching of low-altitude economy among universities in Northeast China but also elevates "integration of industry and education" to a new level. Follow us to explore Shenyang Institute of Technology (Shen Gong)’s "low-altitude ambition"!

The new construction of the aircraft runway and the introduction of three single-engine, two-seat, high-wing, tricycle-gear light sport aircraft mark a "major upgrade" for the university in low-altitude economy talent cultivation. In the past, many universities offering low-altitude economy-related programs mostly limited their teaching to theoretical courses or practical training with small UAVs, lacking real-scenario training with large aircraft. However, Shen Gong has directly upgraded the "training field" to a "real combat field" this time – after the aircraft are stationed in the future, students will not only learn theoretical knowledge and practice UAV operations but also have close access to real aircraft. They can receive flight license training and ground training, laying the foundation for becoming pilots, aircraft maintenance technicians, aircraft service personnel, flight theory instructors, and more.

As the first industrial college in Northeast China focusing on international low-altitude economy technical talent cultivation, Shen Gong’s construction of the aircraft runway and introduction of three aircraft will not only supply "flight-capable, technology-savvy, and practical-oriented" interdisciplinary talents to the low-altitude economy industry in Liaoning Province and even Northeast China but also attract more low-altitude economy-related enterprises to settle in Northeast China. This will help build a low-altitude economy industrial ecosystem in the region and add momentum to the "Digital Liaoning · Smart and Powerful Province" initiative.

At present, the construction of the aircraft runway has been completed. After the aircraft are stationed in the future, the university will collaborate with more leading enterprises in the industry to develop characteristic courses and further improve the talent cultivation chain covering "from theory to practice, and from certification to employment".

Shen Gong has long been ready to take action in the low-altitude economy field. As a proactive institution that closely aligns with national strategies, the university has long targeted the national strategy of low-altitude economy as a new growth engine and the development goal of "Digital Liaoning · Smart and Powerful Province" in Liaoning Province, forging a distinctive path of industry-education integration in low-altitude economy talent cultivation.

The university has joined hands with South Surveying & Mapping Technology Co., Ltd., a leading enterprise in the surveying, mapping, and geographic information field, to co-establish the "Shen Gong-South Surveying & Mapping Beidou Spatiotemporal Information Industrial College". This college has built a trinity technical ecosystem integrating "Metaverse + Beidou & Low-Altitude Economy + Remote Sensing". Moreover, Shen Gong has established the "International Low-Altitude Economy Technology College" – the first of its kind in Northeast China focusing on international low-altitude economy technical talent cultivation. With "Industry-Education Integration 3.0" as its core, the college has not only collaborated with domestic leading enterprises to build a Northeast China Industry-Education Integration Demonstration Base but also expanded international cooperation to develop a Northeast Asia Low-Altitude Economy Open Hub. It has also established a scientific research platform and a three-level training system covering "licensing – application – management", closely linking talent cultivation with industrial demands.

Not long ago, the first session of the Liaoning Provincial Water Conservancy Industry UAV Pilot Certification Training Course was successfully launched at our university, attracting technical backbones and practitioners from the provincial water conservancy system to "update their skills" at Shen Gong. Leveraging the advantages of its industrial colleges, the university has innovatively built a four-dimensional empowerment training system integrating "policy + technology + teaching + service". In theoretical courses, certified instructors teach with real cases through hands-on guidance; in practical courses, progressive training covering "takeoff, landing, and hovering – route planning – emergency avoidance" is conducted directly at the training field, with participants divided into groups to compete and improve their operational accuracy. This further confirms that Shen Gong already has mature experience and solid capabilities in practical teaching of low-altitude economy.

It must be said that Shen Gong’s initiative of "bringing an airport onto campus" has truly put the educational philosophy of "industry demand-oriented" into practice. In the future, this place will become a "cradle" for low-altitude economy talents in Northeast China! It will cultivate more "pilots" and "technical experts" who can support the development of the regional low-altitude economy! Let’s look forward to it together!
