On December 24th, the China-Russia international laboratory of food biotechnology jointly established by Shenyang Institute of Technology and South Ural University, Russia was inaugurated in the Lecture Hall of International Education College. The professors of College of Biomedical Sciences, Ms. Irina Yurievna, Ms. Natalia Victorovna, International Affairs Expert and foreign affairs consultant of our university, Mr. Cui Honghai, The leaders of SIT, Mr. Li Kangju, Mr. Yang Lin, Ms. Shao Yu, Mr. Li Wenguo, Ms. Shi Wei, Ms. Liu Aiqiu and the representative teachers and students witnessed the moment.
The establishment of the international joint laboratory will help the two universities to further realize complementary advantages and resource sharing, and establish a China-Russia cooperation platform for innovative and high-level scientific research. It is conducive to further enhancing mutual visits, cooperative scientific research, joint running of schools and various academic exchanges. In the future, with the help of food biotechnology, the laboratory will carry out comprehensive cooperative research with Russia in traditional food industry and deep processing technology transformation of agricultural and sideline products, so as to jointly promote the rapid development of the food field of China and Russia. The two universities will rely on international joint laboratories to carry out cooperation in such fields as joint application for scientific research projects, joint publication of scientific research papers, joint application for intellectual property protection, and joint cultivation of undergraduate and graduate students. The joint laboratory has two research and development sites, which are set up in School of Life Engineering of our university and College of Biomedical Sciences of South Ural University in Russia. The laboratory in SIT is headed by Mr. Wang Jiaqing, Dean of School of Life Engineering of our university, and the laboratory in Russia is headed by Professor Ms. Irina Yurievna, College of Biomedical Sciences of South Ural University.
President of SIT, Mr. Li Kangju, on behalf of the university, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the guests all attending the ceremony and congratulated on the establishment of the joint laboratory. He noted that since 2016, two universities established cooperation and exchange relations, frequent exchanges between the two sides, has maintained good relations of cooperation. This year, the harvest year of two universities’ cooperation. Pushkin College was unveiled in just a month, now the international joint laboratory of the opening ceremony is held successfully. This shows that the scope and depth of cooperation between the two sides have been continuously expanded. The two universities will take this as an opportunity to promote the blossoming of scientific research achievements in the two countries and boost the construction of "The belt and the road" in China. The two sides will carry out more and better projects on the basis of existing exchanges, deepen cooperation and cultivate more high-quality international talents for "The belt and the road".
At the ceremony, Professor Ms. Irina Yurievna introduced the basic situation of SUU and made a report on the research direction of the food biotechnology laboratory of College of Biomedical Sciences. Professor Irina Yurievna has also been appointed honorary professor of our university. Professor Natalia Victorovner has been appointed as a visiting professor of our university.
The food science laboratory is the key laboratory of our university. In recent years, our university has invested a large amount of funds in the purchase of scientific research experimental equipment, and actively introduced experts and scholars in the field of food biotechnology, focusing on the transformation of achievements, and the scientific research strength has been significantly enhanced. This year, the food science and engineering experimental center of our university has been approved as the experimental teaching demonstration center of Liaoning province. In the future, our university will increase the investment in teaching and scientific research on the basis of the provincial experimental center construction, and cooperate closely with Russia to jointly build the international joint laboratory of food biotechnology between China and Russia.
The establishment of the laboratory, it is our response to "The belt and the road" initiative and also is great significance for both sides to carry out substantive cooperative research and realize win-win innovation in the future.
